Basil MonNot

Basile is a remarkably promising young talent with a clear visual signature.

Basile directs films built on rhythm, movement, and a strong visual identity. His work is defined by a modern, cinematic approach to storytelling, where camera movement, composition, styling, and pacing come together to create images that immediately stand out — and stay in mind.

Working at the crossroads of art and technique, Basile brings a sharp command of contemporary filmmaking tools to every project. Each film is conceived as a dynamic visual experience, crafted with precision and intention, where aesthetics and rhythm play a central role in impact and meaning.

Coming from a generation shaped by digital storytelling yet deeply rooted in cinema, Basile moves seamlessly between documentary, fiction, and advertising. His films feel current, controlled, and visually distinctive, always driven by a clear sense of direction and execution.

This approach came fully to life with Kaizen, a documentary shot in the mountains of Nepal, blending classic documentary storytelling with sequences inspired by advertising aesthetics. Defined by strong visual work, cinematic landscapes, and a precise sense of rhythm, the film was released theatrically in France, drawing 370,000 spectators on its first day, before becoming a major online phenomenon with 46 million views on YouTube.

Alongside filmmaking, Basile is also a storyteller on paper. As co-author of the manga Instinct, a major editorial success, he develops long-form narratives built on progression, tension, and transformation — elements that directly inform his directing and visual storytelling.

More than a genre, Basile’s work is defined by a visual signature: films that are modern, aesthetic, and tightly crafted.
